Blue Shades: 25th Anniversary Edition - Band Arrangement
Absolutely fascinating! The composer has created a work that combines his love of jazz and the blues with his own contemporary style. Although there is a strong allusion to the blues and a jazz feeling is prevalent, this is not a literal "Blues" piece. Blues harmonies, rhythms and melodic idioms do pervade the work, and many "shades of blue" are heard, from bright and dark to dirty and hot. It's a demanding work that will require strong players in every section of the band.

Two-Part Three-Pack - Three Bach Inventions For Mallet Duo
J.S. Bach’s Two-Part Inventions is a collection of fifteen short keyboard works originally written by Bach as technical exercises for his students. They are contrapuntal pieces two voices of equal value but independent in contour and rhythm unlike "vertical" pieces that employ melody and harmony, basslines, etc. Born in the Renaissance period and coming of age during the Baroque, the contrapuntal style of writing served as a launch pad for rounds, canons, and ultimately fugues, this last of which Bach is considered the definitive master. Brian Slawson has arranged three of these inventions as mallet duets, packaged here for extra value as a "three-pack." The two-part inventions included here are No. 4 (D minor), No. 8 (F Major), and No. 13 (A minor). They can be performed separately or in succession. Performing duets can be one of the most rewarding settings for mallet players, and these arrangements will surely be a hit with both performers and audiences. This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes a CD-Rom containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing.

Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing - Arranged For Vibraphone And Marimba Duo By Matthew Weyer
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing is an 18th Century Christian hymn based upon the American folk tune, "Nettleton." In Matthew Weyer’s arrangement for vibraphone and marimba duo, he brings beautiful and sweet new life to this uplifting theme. While the vibraphone carries much of the melodic role, both members of the duet take the lead at various points. Marimba flourishes requiring good command of 4-mallet technique will be required to properly communicate the music. As a whole, this is a wonderful vehicle in which players can hone their skills of balancing musical roles while challenging themselves technically and working as a unit to convey the beauty built within the music. This piece ships as a professionally bound folio and includes a CD-ROM containing individual parts and an audio reference recording.
