Etude In C# Minor - Op. 2, No. 1 Arranged For Mallet Duet By Brian Slawson
With the exception of one piano concerto and a small number of orchestral pieces, Russian composer Alexander Scriabin wrote exclusively for solo piano. Scriabin was just 15 years old when he composed this etude in 1887. In Etude in C# Minor arrangement by Brian Slawson, the main focus becomes how two players must become one through impeccable communication while fluctuating tempos and phrasing. Not for the faint of heart, this lyrical piece raises the bar for percussionists looking to break free from the confines of musical rigidity.
This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes a CD-Rom containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing.

Three Spanish Songs (For Soprano And Wind Ensemble) - Band Arrangement
This cycle is a setting of three contrasting poems by Latin-American poets Leopoldo Lugones, Rube en Dari io and Jose e Marti i. "Olas Grises" uses evocative rain and sea imagery to meditate on the nature of life and death. Set as a lyrical, quasi-strophic song, these images are portrayed through the opening percussion raindrop motive and the moaning vocal line used throughout the movement. "Nocturno" is a frantic soliloquy set as an extended opera scene. The opening recitative is followed by a surreal aria. This is followed by a re-statement of both sections. "Suen no Despierto" is a short poem about the contrasting images of a waking dream. Based on a fragment of the lullaby "Nanita Nana," heard in its entirety at the opening, the song is a set of three variations, followed by a coda, which portray these various images. Three Spanish Songs was commissioned by Michael Haithcock and the University of Michigan Symphony Band. This is the recital/rehearsal version of this piece. The vocal solo with wind ensemble accompaniment is also available (00-29639/$150)

"c" Is For Chorale (God Of Our Fathers: A Chorale Fantasy) - Band Arrangement
The Choral Fantasy varies from the Choral Prelude in that it is much freer in form and style. This number opens with a variation of the fanfare that has been traditionally inserted as an introduction and interlude between stanzas. The chorale is then presented in a traditional harmonization by the full band. The second section is in a faster tempo, and is based on statements of the opening motive of the hymn presented in fugal style.
