Start the year off right!

The Music Shop's Professional Development Program will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007.

This program is designed to give music directors, private educators, and university teachers an opportunity to improve their programs and earn required continuing education hours. Our courses are designed to improve the individual teacher as well as enhance the school's overall music program, with up-to-date music, techniques and skills.



This year's classes include:

SESSION ONE: 9:00am - 11:00am

* Learn How to Update Your Approach to all Forms of Percussion Playing in Class, Ensemble and Practice with Steve Fisher. Electronic drum sets and hand percussion provided by Roland.

* "Techniques for Achieving Musical Expression with Young String Players" with Jim Eaton, sponsered by EMMC

* "Making Music Is Elemental" with Michael J. Hudson, materials provided by Silver Burdett

* Choral Reading Session sponsered by Hal Leonard


SESSION TWO: 12:30pm - 3:00pm

* Learn to Integrate Electronic Percussion with Modern Computer Based Recording and Learning Software with Debra Barbre, sponsered by Roland.

* "How Music Technology Will Enhance Your Band and String Programs" with Debra Barbre, sponsered by Roland

* "Violin Making As It Is Practiced Today" with Jim Eaton, sponsered by EMMC.

* "Hitting All the Right Notes! Developing a Strong Choral Program" with Michael J. Hudson, materials provided by Silver Burdett

* "Emergency String/Band Repairs" with Jim Eaton and Tom Govelitz, sponsered by EMMC. Some materials will be provided by Conn-Selmer and Jupiter, but we recommend bringing your own string/band instruments to this session for hands-on learning.



Enrollment is limited. Registration is $40, and includes both sessions. For an additional $7, you may also purchase lunch.
